Puff and Pull Carnival

May 22, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Traffic is diverted from the main road (SH1) between 10am to 1pm to allow teams to race against the clock pulling 28 ton steam engine Gabriel along the main street of Kawakawa – the only place in the world this happens.

Your team should be booking now as there is a limit to the number of teams able to take part within the time scale.

There are both competitive and non-competitive sections for this challenge.
Competitive team categories are as follows:-
male adults; female adults; mixed (minimum of 5 females); senior school and junior school.
Junior schools to be 40 in number, and all adult teams and senior schools to be 20 in number – an adult is 17 years or over.

In 2015, the Joyce twins – David and Tom – were challenged to Pull Gabriel on their own. Did they? Yes, they did. We are sending out a new challenge – 4 ladies or 2 men – could you do it?!

In Johnson Park, there will be a Carnival themed “American Graffiti” (50s) with a fantastic Talent Quest; market stalls; hot rod, muscle and vintage cars, and many other interesting attractions to showcase the talents and flair of our Far North people.
