Bay Of Islands Waka Festival

This is a 2 day event, with races for all ages – sprints, short distances and a long race. Novice midgets through to serious paddlers!

On the Sunday the 25km “Kris Kjeldsen Memorial Race – Te Taiawhio o Ipipiri” race was founded in the Bay of Islands 27 years ago by the late Kris Kjelsden, a father of the sport in New Zealand.

The base is Te Tii Beach Waitangi Bridge end, a spectacular spot to watch the racing or get your paddle on!
