Queen Mary 2 Arrival

The biggest cruise ship ever to call into the Bay of Islands arrives on Friday 5th March, bringing 4000 passengers and crew to sample the Bay of Islands and the Far North District.

The Queen Victoria attracted 20,000 onlookers when she recently called into Napier and it’s expected that similar numbers will come to the Bay to see the Queen Mary 2, which dwarfs any other cruise ship that has entered Northland waters.

A cruise committee has been formed to plan for the mini-event which will see 870 passengers depart to various pre-booked tours and tourist attractions during the day. The remainder of the passengers and crew are expected to swarm into Paihia and Russell.
