Bay of Islands Walking Weekend

Bay of Islands Walking Weekend – Based in Russell, there are over 18 walks to choose from, all walks leave from Russell and for the more adventurous among us, you can take a trip on a boat out to some of our fabulous islands where some of the walks are based.

This is going to be a great weekend not only for the beauty of the bay but the cultural and historic elements that are unique to this part of the world. To ensure you get the best out of walks we have local guides who are all passionate and knowledgeable about the area. The groups are small with no more than 20 walkers per walk.

There are walks for everyone, with many different levels and types of walks to choose from. We have introduced more new walks this year including one on private land on the island of Moturoa. We also have the overnight walk to Cape Brett again staying in the DOC hut overlooking the Hole in the Rock. This was a new walk last year and was incredibly successful. Doing many of these walks to the islands or Deep Water Cove and Cape Brett on this weekend is a very cost effective and easy way of doing them.

Russell will have its very own walking headquarters, at the friendly local bowling club where people can meet, chat about their day and have something to eat, drink and relax. Russell is a fantastic base for the weekend with lots of great restaurants, places to stay and for the non-walkers out there, plenty of things to do.

We are very excited about this weekend and the great walking experiences there are up in the Bay of Islands.
