Ferries
There are four different passenger ferries operating between Paihia and Russell, departing from the central wharfs.
The most direct road access to Russell is via the vehicular ferry which regularly departs from Opua.

Getting to Paihia
To get from Auckland to Paihia, Bay of Islands.
Take State Highway 1 north out of Auckland. (This is the main North/South Motorway that runs through Auckland.)
From Kawakawa the Bay of Islands is signposted.

– you can fly from Auckland on an domestic flight into Kerikeri just twenty minutes from Paihia
