A National volunteer organization, working with local police to reduce crime & build a safer community.

Community Patrol Paihia is a group of volunteers from the community, who offer their time and take responsibility for Paihia and the surrounding areas, to help the New Zealand Police.

Community patrollers act as ‘eyes and ears’ for police. Patrolling our community in pairs, patrollers note anything that could be suspicious and inform police immediately of incidents requiring urgent attention. Any other suspicious occurrences are recorded and entered into the New Zealand Police intelligence computer, by the New Zealand Police.

Police notify the patrol of suspicious activities and trouble spots they would like the patrol to keep an eye on, as well as informing the patrol of events occurring in the area. Each member must sign a sign a declaration of confidentiality and agree to abide by a code of conduct before working with the patrol.

Any citizen with a caring attitude may offer their services. Applicants are vetted by the Police, before becoming patrol members and must complete a period of training where they work with those who are already trained. Patrollers usually patrol once every 6 weeks.

Community Patrol Paihia has been very fortunate in having been donated a vehicle for members use while on Patrol.  This vehicle was kindly donated by Fullers, Bay of Islands.

Community Patrol Paihia is sponsored by Business Paihia and is responsible for the running expenses, to ensure no cost is incurred by volunteers.
